The Office of the Chief Executive,
Bio-security of Australia.
Dear Sir,
Stop New Zealand apples coming into Australia and the risk of fire blight! Why when we are one of the few countries free of fire blight allow possible entry? This reckless and irresponsible decision has the potential to destroy so much, many plants, and communities. With the apple and pear industry at risk so are jobs, industry and communities.
No where that has a fire blight outbreak have they been able to eradicate this insidious disease. As well as apples and pears we could loose some of our native plants.
It is disgraceful the lack of respect and support our government has for our rural industries. Australia, a clean and green country, is being forced to accept second grade foods.
Yours faithfully,
Joy Sims,
