Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of interest to importers (and their customs brokers) of fresh citrus from Egypt.
What has changed?
BICON cases for citrus from Egypt (Fresh orange/lemon/mandarin/lime for human consumption) are under emergency review by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resource (the department).
No consignments of citrus from Egypt will be released from biosecurity control until this review is completed.
This change is effective as of 1 November 2017. The department is working actively with Egypt to complete the review and anticipates that the outcomes of the review will permit continued trade under interim measures.
The department will inform industry with agreed outcomes as soon as these are known.
