Important notice for travellers going to Thailand

The department has detected an increase in the number of black spined toads from Thailand that have stowed away in travellers’ luggage. Visit our black spined toad page for more information and to download advice for travellers.

Cultural and seasonal events

Goods that are considered to be of biosecurity concern are removed from travellers at a higher rate during particular cultural events, such as Rakhi, Chinese New Year, Diwali and Christmas.

More information is available about bringing or mailing items that relate to cultural and seasonal events.
