International Airport Operators' Guide

The International Airports Operators Guide provides Australian international airport operators with principles for the infrastructure development required by border agencies to carry out regulatory traveller and cargo processing and border protection functions.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of working collaboratively with airport operators to develop infrastructure that not only meets regulatory requirements but also minimise disruption to the broader passenger experience and airport operations.

The International Airport Operator Guide (IAOG) is available for airport operators seeking to:

  • construct new terminal infrastructure
  • relocate Government agencies to alternate accommodation
  • make any changes to terminal infrastructure (including refurbishments) that is used for processing international flights, passengers and goods.

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) maintains the IAOG on behalf of itself and the following agencies:

  • Department of Agriculture and Water Resources
  • Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development (including the Office of Transport Security)
  • Australian Federal Police
