About Meat and Intensive Livestock
The Meat and Intensive Livestock Policy Section is part of the Livestock Industries and Animal Welfare Branch in the Agricultural Policy Division of the Department. The Section’s main focus is policy delivery, which involves:
- Developing policy and providing advice to the Australian Government on issues affecting the red meat industry.
- Liaising between industry and the Australian Government on legislative and structural matters.
- Managing quota arrangements that apply to regulated red meat and dairy markets.
- Policy and legislative matters relating to red meat levies.
The Meat and Intensive Livestock Policy Section has responsibility for policy development and advice to the Australian Government on issues affecting the red meat markets
and management of the quota regimes applying to EU and US markets.
