The People Strategy complements and supports the department's strategic priorities. It describes how we, individually and as a department, can foster our culture, our capability and strengthen our client focus - in the context of the government's priorities for the department and in a dynamic and changing workplace.

Our values

We, individually and as a department, promote and uphold the APS Values and Code of Conduct.

Our people priorities

  • Workplace health, safety and rehabilitation: We will strengthen work health safety systems to reduce injuries and expedite return to work.
  • Participation and productivity: We will We will improve workplace participation and increase productivity.
  • Performance and change culture: We will manage our performance and ensure we become a modern, flexible and client focussed department.
  • Enterprise agreement: We will develop and implement a new enterprise agreement.
  • Workforce capability: We will identify and develop a skilled, diverse and capable workforce that supports the organisation in meeting its priorities. 
  • Ethics and workplace environment: We will maintain a workplace that embeds the APS Values and is free from fraud and corruption.
