Quantitative sciences

ABARES’ Quantitative Sciences Section uses in-depth modelling and statistical analyses to support decision making and policy development across the broad range of areas relevant to the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, with a recent focus on Biosecurity and Fisheries.

The section works closely with end users to clearly identify questions and provide appropriate and timely solutions, either from our own analyses or from our ability to facilitate interactions between Branches in the Department and the broader research community.

The section is actively engaged in cutting edge research and collaborates with the broader research community (for example, the Centre of Excellence for Biosecurity Risk Analysis) to help interpret new research outcomes relevant to the Department and in some cases support their implementation.
